In accordance with Decision No. 1862/QĐ-TTg dated November 4, 2021, by the Prime Minister, Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day aims to affirm the position, role, and importance of books in enhancing knowledge, developing skills, fostering critical thinking, and shaping human character. The initiative seeks to promote a reading culture within the community, create a conducive reading environment, and cultivate the habit of reading in families, schools, organizations, and workplaces. It contributes to building cultural and spiritual life while upholding the nation’s values of education and scholarly traditions.

Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2024
This year marks the third celebration of the event, with the message: “Books: Awareness – Innovation – Creativity” and “Books for Me, for You”. The event has garnered active support and collaboration from various ministries, organizations, and local authorities, creating a nationwide cultural movement. The 2024 celebration has expanded in scope and diversity, combining traditional activities with modern methods like digital publishing and technological innovation. Digital transformation tools have created new value, connecting activities across central and local levels while diversifying distribution methods to make books more accessible.
FAHASA’s Contributions
FAHASA Corporation and its affiliated bookstores organized meaningful educational and social activities from April 15 to May 1, 2024, to commemorate the third Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day. Events were held at 36 locations across cities and provinces, including Ho Chi Minh City, Vĩnh Long, Cần Thơ, Phan Rang, Phan Thiết, Khánh Hòa, Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi, Quảng Trị, Huế, Đà Nẵng, Phú Yên, Thái Bình, Thanh Hóa, Bắc Giang, Bắc Ninh, and Hanoi. These book fairs were conducted in collaboration with local authorities, Departments of Information and Communications, libraries, and schools.

Promotions and Events
To celebrate Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, FAHASA partnered with publishers, book companies, and cultural media firms to organize promotional programs offering 10% to 50% discounts on hundreds of Vietnamese books from April 1 to May 1 each year. These promotions apply across FAHASA’s bookstore network and e-commerce platform, Fahasa.com.
Through extensive marketing efforts in participating provinces and cities, the celebration has gained enthusiastic support from young readers, students, and visitors. The activities underscore the importance of books in young people’s lives, establishing reading as a preferred form of recreation alongside other media like television, radio, and the internet. This initiative honors the value of books and readers and provides meaningful cultural experiences for audiences of all ages.
