In accordance with Decision No. 1862/QĐ-TTg dated November 4, 2021, by the Prime Minister, Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day aims to affirm the position, role, and importance of books in enhancing knowledge, developing skills, fostering critical thinking, and shaping human character. The initiative seeks to promote a reading culture within the community, create a conducive reading environment, and cultivate the habit of reading in families, schools, organizations, and workplaces. It contributes to building cultural and spiritual life while upholding the nation’s values of education and scholarly traditions.

Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2024
This year marks the third celebration of the event, with the message: “Books: Awareness – Innovation – Creativity” and “Books for Me, for You”. The event has garnered active support and collaboration from various ministries, organizations, and local authorities, creating a nationwide cultural movement. The 2024 celebration has expanded in scope and diversity, combining traditional activities with modern methods like digital publishing and technological innovation. Digital transformation tools have created new value, connecting activities across central and local levels while diversifying distribution methods to make books more accessible.
FAHASA’s Contributions

These book fairs were conducted in collaboration with local authorities, Departments of Information and Communications, libraries, and schools.

Promotions and Events
To celebrate Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, FAHASA partnered with publishers, book companies, and cultural media firms to organize promotional programs offering 10% to 50% discounts on hundreds of Vietnamese books from April 1 to May 1 each year. These promotions apply across FAHASA’s bookstore network and e-commerce platform, Fahasa.com.
Through extensive marketing efforts in participating provinces and cities, the celebration has gained enthusiastic support from young readers, students, and visitors. The activities underscore the importance of books in young people’s lives, establishing reading as a preferred form of recreation alongside other media like television, radio, and the internet. This initiative honors the value of books and readers and provides meaningful cultural experiences for audiences of all ages.
The Significance of Books
Books hold a unique spiritual value in human life. As a treasure trove of endless knowledge, they illuminate the path to the future. Through Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, FAHASA seeks to make books accessible to everyone, particularly young readers, at affordable prices.
