Opening Ceremony of the Japan Book Week Themed “Japan Through the Pages” Celebrating 10 Years of Partnership Between FAHASA and Kinokuniya Group, Japan

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Ho Chi Minh City Book Distribution Corporation (FAHASA) (1976–2026) and to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the partnership between FAHASA and Kinokuniya Group (2016–2026), FAHASA, in collaboration with Kinokuniya Group, officially launched the Japan Book Week on July 1, 2026, at Nguyen Hue Bookstore under the theme “Japan Through the Pages.”

The event provides an opportunity for FAHASA and Kinokuniya to reflect on a decade of strong, effective, and culturally meaningful cooperation. From the first Japan Book Week organized in 2016, to the development of Japanese-language book sections at key bookstores and the promotion of Vietnamese books abroad, the two organizations have played an important role in bringing Japanese books, the Japanese language, and Japanese culture closer to Vietnamese readers, while also introducing Vietnamese culture to readers in Japan.

One of the most anticipated highlights of this year’s Japan Book Week is the special meet-and-greet session with Tokyo Genso, a renowned Japanese artist celebrated for his imaginative artworks that transform familiar urban landscapes into poetic and dreamlike worlds.

Since beginning his professional career in 2008, Tokyo Genso has contributed background artwork to numerous well-known anime and video game projects. His works are widely admired for reimagining modern cities as lush, nature-filled environments illuminated by vibrant light, creating emotional and captivating “green universes” that resonate deeply with audiences.

Tokyo Genso is best known for several acclaimed art books, including Tokyo Genso Art Works, Tokyo Genso Art Works Vol.2, Osaka Genso Art Works, and Tokyo Genso’s Apocalyptic Stroll. These publications have captivated art enthusiasts in Japan and around the world through their distinctive visual style and compelling storytelling.

This marks the first time Tokyo Genso has visited Vietnam to meet and interact with readers. As part of the program, he will participate in two special fan events:

  • July 2, 2026 – Nguyen Hue Bookstore
  • July 3, 2026 – FAHASA Tan Dinh Bookstore

To provide memorable experiences for fans, FAHASA and Kinokuniya have introduced an autograph session program with two participation categories: Special Admission and General Admission.
