Ho Chi Minh City Book Distribution Corporation – FAHASA (UPCoM: FHS) has just released its consolidated Q1 financial report, with revenue reaching VND 772 billion, an 8% increase compared to the same period last year.
However, the cost of goods sold increased more rapidly, causing the gross profit margin to slightly drop from 31.3% to 30.9%. As a result, gross profit reached VND 238.5 billion, up only about 7% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, selling expenses rose to nearly VND 205 billion, a 5% increase, and general and administrative expenses also saw a slight uptick.
After accounting for expenses, FAHASA reported a pre-tax profit of VND 19.6 billion and a net profit of VND 15.8 billion.

Notably, FAHASA’s full-year 2025 business plan sets a cautious target of VND 4,200 billion in total revenue and VND 73 billion in pre-tax profit. Thus, after the first quarter, the company has achieved approximately 27% of its annual pre-tax profit target.
Recently, FAHASA spent VND 5 billion to renovate two major bookstores in Ho Chi Minh City: FAHASA Tan Binh and FAHASA Thu Duc. These bookstores are large-scale, each covering 1,000 m², displaying over 100,000 copies of both Vietnamese and foreign books, along with 50,000 stationery items, school supplies, children’s toys, and premium souvenirs.
A FAHASA representative stated that the bookstores focus on developing themed sections to cater to specific reader groups, such as children’s book zones, specialized book areas, and thematic product displays.
In parallel, FAHASA also sets up reading corners to create dedicated spaces for book lovers, art corners, and interactive play areas for young readers.
Founded in 1976 as a state-owned book distribution company, FAHASA was privatized in 2006. It currently manages and operates over 130 bookstores nationwide under the FAHASA brand, making it the largest bookstore chain in Vietnam.
